If you are considering Peekskill as a place for your business then your first stop should be the city's Office of Economic Development(OED). OED can provide you with guidance and technical assistance to help determine what city permits or licenses you may need to open your business. In addition, since OED is an office within the Department of Planning, Development, and Code Assistance we can assist with zoning questions and help explain the city's planning process. OED's database of choice real estate locations - an objective, confidential free resource - make site selection more efficient and tailored to the requirements of specific businesses. We can provide you with sales data on office, industrial, and commercial real estate market, tax information, updates on infrastructure and transportation projects, and historical and projected economic data. OED can also bring resources to the table such as business startup assistance in the form of SCORE or NYS Small Business Development Center counseling or financing through Westchester County's SBA Microlender Community Capital Resources. We also can assist you in working with Con Edison or NYSERDA to determine how your property or business operation can become more energy efficient. Finally, if you are seeking recruitment resources, OED works with NYS Department of Labor, Westchester County offices, and local agencies to help you identify perspective employees. You can start by browsing some of the resources listed here, and follow-up by scheduling an appointment with OED by calling 914-293-0916. Christopher Marra, Economic Development Specialist |

Through the ingenuity of a third generation piano refurbisher, the City of Peekskill will soon be home to perhaps the finest combination restaurant and music venue not only in Westchester County, but the Hudson Valley. The F- Sharp Restaurant and Music Hall has been dream of John Ford for most of this decade. Mr. Ford an entrepreneur and owner of 15-27 South Division Street has successfully redeveloped an old department store building into three vibrant and diverse businesses with the Music Hall about to complete the building. This 21,000 sq. ft. building is home to Ford Piano, the Treat Station, and Brown Street Studios. Mr. Ford is the owner of Ford Piano and owns and manages Brown Street Studios. The 4,000 sq. ft. music hall has received all approvals from the City of Peekskill's Planning Commission and is currently under construction. In addition, the City of Peekskill, working in collaboration with Mr. Ford, has secured both an Empire State Development Corporation $45,000 façade grant and a $275,000 RESTORE grant. The restaurant is slated to have a capacity of between 200 and 250 patrons. Mr. Ford has more plans as he hopes to create a nonprofit group that will provide free music lessons to talented school children. The nonprofit will be a separate organization that will be located inside the building. |
